Turkish food in Bristol: where to eat, by neighbourhood
Bristol has one of the highest search volumes for Turkish food in the country and fewer than twenty Turkish restaurants, most of them central. The city was under-counted in our first census because its boundary wraps the Avon; the corrected picture is a small, good cluster and large unserved suburbs.

Harbourside and the centre
The BS1 cluster around Baldwin Street, the Harbourside and Old Market holds most of Bristol's Turkish restaurants: a couple of grills, a meze restaurant and the late-night doner counters that serve the city's nightlife. It is where visitors find Turkish food and where the reviews concentrate.
Gloucester Road
Gloucester Road in BS7, Bristol's long independent high street, has the city's more neighbourhood Turkish places: a grill, a café that does breakfast, a takeaway. It is the closest Bristol has to a Turkish corridor and the best bet for a Sunday kahvaltı.
Easton and Bedminster
A grill or two in Easton, near the Stapleton Road markets, and a takeaway in Bedminster round out the map. Both areas have the mixed, food-loving population that supports Turkish restaurants elsewhere and could carry more.
The gap: Clifton and the north
Clifton, Redland, Cotham and Whiteladies Road have no Turkish restaurant despite being the city's most restaurant-dense district. The northern suburbs out to Filton are the same. A sit-down ocakbaşı in Clifton would be the first of its kind, and our feasibility data rates Bristol among the ten most under-served councils in England.
