Turkish food in Leicester: where to eat, by neighbourhood
Leicester has one of the higher Turkish restaurant counts outside London, tied to its large South Asian food economy and the Narborough Road and Belgrave corridors. Hygiene scores are weaker than average, which points to a quality gap rather than a supply gap.

This guide walks Leicester by neighbourhood: Narborough Road; Belgrave and Melton Road; City centre and Clarendon Park; The quality gap. Counts, hygiene shares and postcode clusters come from our directory; the map below is seeded on the city centre, and each neighbourhood links to the restaurants we list there.
Narborough Road
Leicester's most international street has several Turkish and Kurdish grills, doner houses and bakeries among the Polish, Indian and Middle Eastern restaurants. Cheap, busy and open late.
Belgrave and Melton Road
The Golden Mile is South Asian by tradition but Turkish grills have appeared along Melton Road and in Belgrave Gate, serving a mixed clientele.
City centre and Clarendon Park
The centre has meze restaurants and grills around Granby Street and the station; Clarendon Park's Queens Road has the neighbourhood cafés and the city's best bet for breakfast.
The quality gap
Only about a third of rated Turkish restaurants in our Leicester listings hold a hygiene 5. A clean, charcoal-grill restaurant in Clarendon Park or Oadby would stand out immediately.
